The 2022 harvest in Napa Valley was marked by exceptional conditions that contributed to a remarkable vintage. The growing season experienced ideal weather patterns, with warm days and cool nights, and some heat spikes throughout the summer.  The south-westerly orientation of the vineyard combined with these heat spikes, resulted in the fruit ripening nearly 8 weeks ahead of their usual schedule. Our sister and winemaker, Angelina, lives within 2 miles of our three Howell Mountain properties.  This allows her to visit the vineyards regularly to ensure we do not miss our window of opportunity to pick at the perfect ripeness, a critical element crucial to the success of the 2022 vintage. This resulted in vibrant and bold flavors with excellent structure, providing us wines that are both expressive and elegant.

Just like the vintage, our 2022 Aloft Cabernet Sauvignon is truly remarkable. On the nose, the wine offers an enticing bouquet of purple floral notes of lilac, black and pink peppercorn, blueberry, blackberry, black cherry, and black currant. Subtle hints of tobacco leaf, freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, freshly ground black pepper, clove, nutmeg, freshly baked blackberry pie, with a touch of pine and Tahitian vanilla to add to its complexity.

Upon sipping the wine, your experience is enhanced with juicy and plush tannins that are silky and balanced with beautiful acidity. The creaminess and weight of freshly baked mixed blackberry pie lingers on the palate for one of the longest finishes we have seen yet, creating a luscious, velvety texture. The flavors of freshly picked blackberry, clove, nutmeg, a hint of cedar, and freshly rolled cigar leaf dance on the tongue, leaving a memorable impression after the first sip.
